Student tells teacher: 'I don't want to shoot you'

I don't know if this is a rare phenomenon or the norm. Given the amount of people on this planet one might think phenomenon. Either way it is sad. Are the people so stressed and sad they feel the only way to resolve their issues is with violence. What the "F" is going on?
