rdnstn:Let me know how you like it. I found it to be very complex and the tastes of cedar that sprang up throughout is what sold me. I really need to buy a box or 2. Maybe when the Army finally pays me back for the mistakes that they have made with my paycheck.
I have had a couple of these now and I thought they were fantastic. Anyone who is sitting on some who just don't like them... well, let's do a trade !
I had the Robusto and it was GREAT. The Churchill I had was very good but not as tasty as the Robusto. I am not a huge fan of the larger gauge sticks but I would smoke these in the robusto's all day long. -
I enjoyed the Lot 23 maduro quite a bit, but wasn't all that excited by the natural. The maduro had a lot of great flavor, was well balanced, and burned consistently the whole way. The quality of the natural wrapper stick was equally high, I just didn't like the pairing of the filler with the wrapper as much as in the maduro. Neither deteriorated part way through like yours did.
I would smoke this cigar again. On the other hand, I like the Perdomo Habano so much more that, considering their similar price, I will probably by the Habano in the future instead. -
Just had the Maduro lot 23...the natural is just a ok stick...lit this up for the first time...its good...not omfg its amazing...but i am hapapy with my choice so i dont mind recommending it! lol

I have not gotten sick from a cigar since my first cigar when i was a kid. And now i need some help, people who have smoked the perdomo lot 23 has anyone else not enjoyed this cigar? -
I thought they were decent sticks that smoked very smooth and creamy. I would rate them as strictly medium bodied though.

First, off I am new to the board and have been reading through the site here and there and everyone seems pretty knowledgeable here.
Secondly, I also had a similar issue with the Lot 23. The Lot 23 in the beginning had a very, I don't really know how to describe it, but kinda of sharp/"tangy" taste to it. Not a pepper, but just a very prounounced taste that made it not enjoyable. I gave it time and got to the half way mark and it mellowed out a bit, but not enough to make me finish or even light my second one up. I am still a newbie so to speak when it comes to cigars, so I was wondering if anyone had any other advice or if I could have just possibly gotten a bad one. I let it sit in my humidor for about 2 weeks, my humidor is usually 66-70 degrees with a fairly constant 68-70 humidity, prior to smoking it. Any thoughts? -
Welcome stang. My guess is that the cigar you had was probably pretty fresh. Fresh cigars can sometimes have a certain harshness to them that can be attributed to chemical reactions that occur after the cigar is rolled. Most cigars are aged after rolling to avoid just such a problem, but sometimes you will come across one that, for whatever reason, was not aged long enough to get rid of these properties. One such byproduct of fresh-rolled cigars is the output of ammonia, which can lead to a very unpleasant smoking experience.
There are a couple of steps you can take to avoid this happening with any frequency. The main thing would be to adequately rest your cigars for a period of 4-6 weeks, this will also allow the cigar to achieve balance with your humidor and the particular condition it is in.
One thing I can say with certainty is that this is not the norm for the Lot 23, I say this having smoked more than two boxes over the past 18 months. I hope this helps and wish you luck in the future with this cigar as it really is a good cigar. -
Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the advice. They've been in my humidor for about 2 months now so maybe I'll give it another go this week. I have to smoke my Diesel Unholy Cocktail; yes I am aware that this is going to kick my butt, but with all the rave reviews I have to try it.
