I know what a HERF is but my buddy at work brought up a question asking why they call Herf-adors Herf-adors and it got me wondering where HERF came from and what HERF stands for.

"Sorta information" is right! Sorta, but not quite. When I tried the first link it says the page doesn't exist. And the second was almost totally bull$hit - Herf Alpert, indeed! How does a guy go about finding this kind of nonsense?

Boy, you got right on that one, Kuzi. Thanks. After reading the first one, I can see where it's 'sorta' information but at least it's more to the point than the second or third links.

I just figured you were yanking our chains, is all. And I'm always up for a joke of some sort.

So sounds like the Term HERF is as misterious as the origins of Robin Hood no one really knows the truth just speculates.

    Thanks for the links Kuz

It is funny as I have never heard the origins of the word but just assumed it was a conjunction of herding-fumas, or "group smoking". Just made sense to me.
