Dr. RH humidification
Options
Anyone use this stuff? I"ve been using this for quite a while now and it does the job but is there anything out there better? So far so good with my smokes and all but I keep hearing about the beads and gel on the forums. Should I make a switch to these or just stick with what I'm currently using? Any advice from the BOTLs is good advice.

Heres a link in case some of you were wondering what I'm talking about. http://cigartech.com/products/drRH_product_detail.php?Dr.-RH-8-oz-Cigar-Remedy-8

Frankly it seems like a bunch of marketing hype to sell what is otherwise a normal pg solution.
My recommendation is to buy beads or gel and don't bother that stuff anymore. I use Drymistat tubes, and they work perfectly, and you don't have to worry about mold, and you only need to refill once every couple months. -
Thanks oldsoul. I'll provide you guys with more info. I currently have a 300ct humidor and using the dr. Rh with a rectangular absorbant gel thing for humidification that has a magnetic strip attached to the underside of the lid. It's been working great actually but I'm a little worried about leakage now. I've read on the forums about drymistat tubes but I'd need way too many for my 300 ct. So besides what I've been using what's really recommended for a humi this size or larger? I don't want to use too much space for humidification if I don't have too. Recommendations?

You can get them at 60, 65, or 70% humidity, and can buy them in bulk -
Oldsoul, I was actually just on that site! I was looking at the large puck. I'd need two for my humi. It just seems like a lot for such a small humi ya know? Hate to see how much I'll need if I ever upgrade to something larger! Oh well, what I have now will suffice till I use it up and get the pucks. Thanks bro

If you happen to go with beads, and in my opinion u should because its simplythe most carefree hassle free method, look for the thread i created about containers and methods of holding beads. I messed around with the pg solution when I first started in the hobby, and while it worked ok, you get peace of mind and the ability to not constantly worrywith beads.

Kitty litter? I don't know man. I read somewhere that isn't a good idea for keeping your expensive cigar collection in good condition. Do you use kitty litter? If so what do you do with it? Do you use distilled water or a PG solution?djbeenie:jfaciane:Anyone use this stuff? I"ve been using this for quite a while now and it does the job but is there anything out there better? Ah, the kitty litter vs humidity bead argument....so many different opinions on this. I'd do some research on the web and decide for yourself. While this post is in NO WAY being critical of anybody, I can't see myself as investing all the $$ I have into premium/expensive cigars yet being cheap on my humidification. Just my personally opinion.jfaciane:

My opinion, the Kitty Litter is doing a way better job than my beads in my Coolidor. Just my experience. Take it what its worth. Don't knock it until you try it.Nick2021:

I watched the back and forth opinions for months about the different humidification methods, did my own investigating and am now using "pourous silica sand" plus the humicare bags we get in our orders from CCOM. It is the same ingredient as the "silica beads" marketed for cigar humidification. My humidors are now rock steady at 70%. Without the silica I was constantly making adjustments to get my humidity correct. So I strongly suggest this humidification medium whether you go to DevilMart and buy a 4 pound bag for $4 or you go to a cigar retailer and buy the silica beads marketed for cigars.

I've got 1 of the humicare large rectangle gel containers and 2 bead pucks in my 300 count works great holds 65-67% pretty steady but in thinking of swapping the 2 pucks for another humicare rectangle, I got to reset the pucks about every 2 weeks where the humicare gel is good for 2-3 months before recharging.
