Important Announcement for Zippo lighter users...

Everyone, Registered Users Posts: 194
In the directions of your zippo lighter, it says to make sure to wipe down everything when you are finished filling the lighter.. After doing this I urge you to wash your hands and NOT hold the paper towel you used in the same hand... I just attempted this and caught my lighter, papertowel, and hands on fire.... Just a word of warning...

You shouldn't be using a naptha fueled lighter for your cigars anyway!

Speaking of this, has anyone tried the zippo insert that runs on butane?

I've heard good things about those inserts from many people, but never had a chance to pick one up.

Good to hear. I've been thinking about picking one up as I like my old zippo but don't use it anymore just because of the fuel odor.

I have the Z-Plus butane insert, and honestly, it gets used more than my Colibri or Prometheus lighters.

I have to agree. Mine worked fine for a while, but had ignition problems after 4-5 months. It would click but produce no spark to ignite the butane.

A lot of friends don't like them because the flint dirst clogs the butane ports. You have to blow them out daily to prevent build up

I usually just light mine with a rag soaked in diesel or something like that. Once in a while some unleaded makes for an exciting light up! haha

I just picked one of these up yesterday, and have yet to get a Zippo to put it in.
