A few months ago, a friend of mine told me about some cigars that tasted fruity. They were NOT infused or flavored, they just had a fruity taste to them. Any ideas on what it is?

ive had hints of raisins is cigars before.... veggies also. i wouldnt say anything "fruity"
not that it couldnt happen. I guess it also depends on what he meant by fruity. -
Huh..... Ive gotten floral tasting smokes but never fruity.

I would argue that the vintage 92 tastes extremely citrus flavored, if that counts as fruity..

are you sure he wasn't chewing that zebra stripped gum...?

I got a hold of him, and he claimed it was a Romeo y Julieta 1875.
Anyone else get a fruity flavor from that?

No, never had fruit, though it might be interesting for a change of pace. As a home roaster, I do know that there are some coffees (Ethiopian & Kenyans), that if roasted to a light city, have very strong natural strawberry & apricot flavors and aromas. Go a few seconds longer into full city, and the fruit flavors disapear. I'm sure that 99.9% of all coffee drinkers have never tasted a unflavored fruity coffee. I've always felt that coffee and tabacco where related flavor wise, so with say, African tabaccos, lightly fermented, the concept may not be all that far fetched.

I detect a fruit quality to a lot of maduros, but I wouldnt match the flavor to any specific fruit. if that makes any sense lol.
