Man I love me some real authentic Chinese food. None of this Panda Express stuff. I'm talking Hardcore places where they hang whole pigs and ducks in the window for everyone to see.

I know what you mean Daniel. I lived in South-East Asia 5 years. I miss the hanging whole pig, duck, chicken and fresh sauces with Jasmin rice. Authentic Chinese food is rare in the US. once in a while when I become crazy I cook by myself. Last week I made Lapu Lapu fish dish with sweet and sour sauce. Imstead of Lapu Lapu, I used a local fresh water fish.

Preparing lamb with Turkish Baharat spice mix. I got the rub from the Istanbul Spice Market. Man, what a market. This market is 350 years old and spice traders from all over the world are there. They have all kind of spices. You name it and they have it period. I am so excited to cook after a month.

What's it like there? Are the people friendly? I've never been overseas...
  • Everyone, Registered Users Posts: 2,604
Super friendly people and the city is full of ancient to modern history, land of former Ottoman Empire, great food, great culture. Istanbul is the only city in the world situated both in Europe and Asia. I will post some information with pictures soon. Political strategists believe - Turkey is going to be the next influential political power and will play an important role in global trade and commerce. The culture is mix of East and West. I loved it and planning to go back.
