I should be down like a clown as long as it's after Cigarfest
Wouldn't dream of competing with Cigar Fest, Spence! Any ideas on this herf??
I would like to go some place else. Nothing against TW, but would be fun to go some place new.
I know there a few places in marietta, buckhead...etc but since I live mostly in North GA...I haven't ventured to many other places except for TW and my local cigar bar. I know tim was talking about Wise Ash, which was his B&M...and its somewhere down in marietta i think.

Has anyone ever been to The Buckhead Cigar Lounge? link just tossing out ideas here....

This is off the website, apparently its got a 300sq ft humi, and located inside a restaurant so we could smoke and get something to eat instead of having to travel all over town...seems to be pretty nice...but then again I've never been....:

"If you like to enjoy a great cigar in elegant surroundings with a sophisticated crowd - - you’ll love The Buckhead Cigar Lounge at Dantanna's. Independently owned and operated by Atlanta's most knowledgeable tobacconists, you will always be treated to outstanding service and advice to ensure you get the perfect cigar for your tastes."<br?

Seems nice. Wonder how much the sticks are? Anyone been here and know what kind of selection and the costs?

Not sure what dates would be good yet I'll think about it and post some thoughts

I've never been there personally. The only sticks I can make out in the photographs are Gurkhas and Cohibas. The pictures are too small to make out anything else, other than the likely Macanudos and Monte's in there. Checking out the Menu it seems to be halfway decent for Buckhead (i.e. $10-$15 for a burger, $20-$30 for an entree and $27 for a Ribeye or Strip), which is to say still expensive (link below).

I wouldn't mind going to BHC, but value wise we'd probably be better splitting up B&M and Restaurant. At the last herf I think we all had a better time once we hit the food and drink anyways, so maybe a quick hit at the B&M and then a longer stay at the bar? :p

There's a few places up in Roswell where there is a cigar friendly bar not far from B&Ms (Harp Irish Pub inbetween two Cigar Merchant's).

Just think if we don't hang around the B&M all day we lessen our chances of having our ears raped about Kidney Stones..

Well, with the place being in Buckhead, i bet they are above avg...but I'm only guessing. I did read however, that there is a $10 cutting fee...which isn't a big deal if it's a great atmosphere, food, drinks...and of course, good company.

I'm also kinda thinking along the same lines as you are Dan...I've been to harp a few years ago (before I got into cigars) do they let you smoke cigars there? Thanks for posting that menu for Buckhead place...since I'm strictly vegetarian (by birth, not by choice), I was hoping for some veggie options...and it looks like they do offer those.

I'm pretty sure they do, but I'll check. I know the inside is still smoking but not sure if it's just intended for cigarette smokers. There's Mehan's in Sandy Springs which is another great pub with a smoking patio but not sure about nearby B&Ms. Wild Wings in Marietta has a smoking lounge but probably crap for vegetarian options.

Buckhead isn't bad for me I'm just throwing out options. I'm going to call and find out it that cutting fee is per sitting or per cigar.

Someone needs to get a hold of Tim so we can get his imput as well, I'm sure he would love to do this again also: I forget which one was Doromath... probably the one I gave the Centurion to?
  • HaybletHayblet Everyone, Registered Users Posts: 2,400
I think first things first is we need to decide a location, and if we do it closer to home for me and Evan, that would bring up a plethora of more options?

An excellent point. If we do it non-ATL then we can revisit Buckhead, etc for an ATL herf (why not have as many as possible?).

And yes, I was the BORK you gifted a tasty tasty Centurion to :)

Well... in Raleigh there is this damn fine BBQ joint, and Evan knows of a great B&M there... granted that's a 4 hour drive or so north for me downside in NC a ton of restaurants are non-smoking Sad [:(]

Right around the corner there is a pretty relaxed cafe that has a pretty nice vegetarian menu. If the weather is nice enough, and if we end up in Raleigh, we can sit on the patio at the Flying Saucer. That place is heaven!

I am fine with traveling a little. Also fine having a herf in ATL and a South east herf. I think someone just needs to say ATL herf here South East Herf here. make them a month or 6 weeks apart.

well, just talked to the wife about possibly traveling out of state, and since I'd probably be gone overnight, she isn't that keen on the idea. So I'm gonna go ahead and say that I'd won't be available to travel too much (until the kids get a little older that is). so my vote will be for something here in ATL somewhere. Sorry guys, I know this isn't quite fair to the guys who traveled out of state last time, but if we all decided to do something in SC/NC that's fine too, I just wouldn't be able to attend, no biggie.

OK with this I call for two herfs one ATL one SC/NC. I also say Krieg do you mind planing the ATL herf? Also who up in SC/NC would be up for planning that one?

I'm not trying to boss people around, but I think Krieg planned the last one and it went great. He would just have my vote as ATL herf leader.

I'm up for dual herfs and would likely attend the SC/NC herf as long as I can hitch a ride from ATL (or coordinate it with a work trip).

For ATL info Buckhead's fee is per cigar. They don't have a list of their stock but carry Altadis, RP, Gurkha, Davidoff, Fuente, Miami Cigar to name a few. No Padron, no Tat, no Illusione because the manager says he doesn't like the reps lol.

Also I confirmed with Harp that they're still cigar friendly but didn't ask about vegetarian options (sorry Chris, I was trying to sneak the call in on a break).

You did a good job when Evan had to back out, so I'll agree with the ATL herf being your territory, and maybe Evan can lead the SC/NC one since he knows better places than I do, all I have is one good cigar shop in Charlotte and there are tons of bars/restaurants right next door but it's in "South Park" and unlike the cartoon this is a very rich b!tch kind of area.

Thanks brother, but Raleigh is a bit far for a lot of people in the south-east. If you know of anywhere nice in Myrtle Beach tat might be the place to head! We can talk offline about places to meet. Let me know that you think.

I do know of a GREAT place we can have a HERF in Raleigh! They have nice prices, and the staff knows me pretty well and they will hook us up if we decide to meet there. They have a really nice lounge, and a couple EXCLUSIVE smokes you can only get there. Let me know if you guys are interested. I'm sure I can talk Gene and a few of the other Brothers in to coming down for this HERF.

Yes just work out when. If anyone is up for carpooling from ATL PM me. I only have a truck or a motorcycle, so need a ride but more than happy to pay my way with gas.

no problem Dan. I wonder if the Buckhead place will let you bring your own cigars...kinda doubt it if there is a "cutting" fee. I'm leaning towards Harp now, checked the menu and there a few things I could eat. So I'm gonna cast my vote for Harp.
