So sorry to hear that. I lost a Doberman due to a series of strokes just over 10 years ago and I still miss him. He had one stroke, took him to the vet and he had 3 more in rapid succession once there. I had to have him put to sleep, and he died in my arms peacefully. He was 15 years old, but always a puppy at heart.

Sorry to hear that. As hard as it might be, think of his suffering rather than your wanting to keep a good friend around. We just had to put down one of our pets who was 19 and it broke our hearts, but she was suffering so, we just had to give her some peace. God Bless!

Sorry to hear about that. I couldn't imagine that as I have my dogs on both side of me as I type. Circle of life I guess. It's just not easy.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I had a little Welsh Corgi that went through something similar at about that age, antibiotics and steroids and he lived to be 18. Pretty good years, too, up until the last week when it became evident that his time had come. Good luck.

Well tonight his temp is down to 104 but he still isn't doing so well. They fear it may be bone marrow cancer. God, I hope it isn't.....

My little sister had a kid last year, and named him after my grandfather. When my grandfather passed away this year, it was tough but it was nice to know that there was a little version of him, so to speak, still here. It made things easier. Your first post startled me because my girlfriend has a year-old Jack Russel named Hunter, who is just as you described your dog.

sorry to hear about that. I had to put down my golden last summer. She was 14 and had beaten cancer twice...but the third time she just couldnt take it. Luckily, my mom, brother and I were all able to be there with her as she was put down. I felt the worst for my pops who could be there, and they had the best relationship. But she lives on in my other dog who learned some of her quirky behaviors...still miss her though....getting a little glossy eyed thinking about her.

I could have hooked you up if you were looking...a friend of mine found two shepherd lab mix puppies in a box on the side of the road left for dead. What kind of f'd up person does that...
