Thanks, Smoke and Kas! In the spirit of the title of this thread, here are other frequently-heard adaptations of my name:
Howdy,Duty! (Doody)
Heavy Duty (applied when I was ***** lbs heavier)
Prvate Duty (heard this a lot when I worked in the medical software industry)
Duty!!!! (yelled in the pool in Caddyshack)
Hey, Duty! You're named after a turd! (actually only on one occassion, but it's frequently repeated amongst my friends since that day)
Duty! What the hell kind of name is Duty??? (the first words my wife ever spoke to me... to get revenge, I married her and gave her the name)
Other applications, which get mileage at family gatherings:
Civic Duty
Light Duty
Special Duty
Call of Duty
Double Duty
Jury Duty
Fiduciary Duty
On Duty
Off Duty
Active Duty
Hazardous Duty
Public Duty
Supreme Duty
Duty-Free
Higher Duty
At the time that my mother and father met, she was a nurse and he was a doctor. They were both married (to other people, obviously) at the time, but they were having an affair. The nurses would frequently ask my mother "Do you have to work tonight, or are you going to be On Duty?"
EDIT: Had to remove a hint from my 1,000th post contest
Thanks everybody! It was a good day indeed. Relaxed with some friends, went bowling for the first time in over five years... My climbing partner gave me some house blends from a local cigar shop/club here. He was only able to tell me that "these two are from Honduras and these two are from Ecuador"... I'll have to head over to the shop to get the details on them one of these days
