How many people here use Cigar coolers/or wine fridges for the humidors

Is the wine fridge actualyl on and running at 68 degrees or so? ever have humidification problems...reason i ask is im looking into a work wine fridge for my cigars, simply for the fact I live in cali and we all know summer here sucks but cant turn on the AC in my house just to cool down the cigars...so I think a temp controlled enviroment would be perfect for me..let me know ur input guys

I have been looking on craigslist for a wine fridge. we have had 14 days of above 100 degree heat here. so i am thinking of getting one.

well i think a wine fridge with a electric humidifier would be the best option...I live in Cali and it does get above a 100 here often..notlately but its coming, and i need something to protect my cigars

yea please take some pics...as well....you leave the AC on in ur house...cuz thats what I need this most for cuz my humi no matter where I put it gets up to 79 degrees sometimes and I have to leave a fan on it the whole time..

I will have to try a coolidor soon...I have one in the garage so ill try and get some humidification going in there and give it a shot and test it out...ill check out the pics my friend

ok...i am cleaning out the cooler I have in the garage tonight and will prep it for humidification and try and set it up tommorrow and see how the humidity does it in..not sure...but hopefully it will work...

I have two stack-able coolers, and a small vinotemp sitting in my closet, but I've yet to do anything to it. It needs drawers or trays, or something to hold sticks first. I'm also going to have to use beads with it I think, and I'm reluctant to go through the learning curve necessary to figure them out, even though it's probably small.

That's actually a really really good question that I didn't think of. I bet you the places I read about it on mentioned that though... Maybe a better alternative to screwing/drilling in the side would be using a water-based glue or something to hold it in place... Dunno /shrug. When I'm not at work and can freely browse the interwebs I'll do a little searching and see :-P

why not get thin strips of wood to act as ledges on the sides of the cooler, and double stick tape them... then you can rest your thin planks of cedar on those ledges to act as shelves... I would imagine the tape would hold very well... I used some to attach some stuff to my car dash and has held up very well considering the extreme heat that can happen in a car.

well another way to build shelves in there is to drill holes into the sides where you want your shelf to be at...insert Little dowls(small round piece of would, or go to home depot in the cabinet section they have those metal round one for kitchen cabinets to hold up the shelf), use a epoxy glue in the hole while you put ur shelf piece in there, and then bam, permanent shelf

Joey just my two cents, but I live A little north of you and given that for most of the months of july and august it never gets below 70 even at night, I would think a winador would be better. A cooler can keep a tempature constanst for a little while, but over time temps will gradually increase until it stays in the 75 to 80 range or even greater. However a coolador is a lot cheaper so give it a try you might have better luck than I did.
