Sucks to hear about the mess up that happened. I agree with you on the fact that you can't carry it up to the front yourself. Unfortunately, that's what today's society has caused. All the theft causes each store to protect themselves and can cause mishaps that otherwise could have been avoided. Hope the new laptop works out for you though.
I had an interesting time recently at Bestbuy. I was buying a camera and a black fellow was also buying a camera from the same sales person. We both decided to buy the camera at about the same time and the woman asked if I had any more shopping to do and when I said no she told me to just take the camera up to the front for checkout. Then she turned to the black guy and said that she needed to run the camera up to the front for security reasons. I was shocked and ashamed that crap like this still happens.
Goldy, it can vary depending on the camera. There's a price point above which some items have to be "walked", and others below that price are considered "grab and go". Hopefully that was the case here.
I'll just say that spending $40 more for a full size laptop, rather than a netbook was a good accident. I got a netbook with some credit I had from Dell, and it is the most difficult thing I have ever tried to use. The layout of the keyboard is awkward, it doesn't perform as smoothly as a regular PC, and the saze is actually inhibiting (IMO), since you either have everything shrunken on the screen, or you do a lot of scrolling around to see everything. Bummer that they screwed up, but maybe it will end up being a better piece of equipment!
Yeah, it seems everything actually worked out pretty well; I'm liking the full-size, and even though it's not real powerful, it does what I need it to do just fine
