what, in your openion is the best sampler to try the different types of wrappers?

Try calling in to CCom. They used to have a bunch of samplers for the house blends. Don't know what happened to those. There's also the Nub Sampler at http://www.cigar.com/cigars/viewcigar.asp?prod=SP-NUBASST11

However, if you feel like getting a super premium, there's the La Aurora Preferido Tubo sampler that has every wrapper at 70 dollars. http://www.cigar.com/cigars/viewcigar.asp?brand=333

I'll second the house blends. That's a great and affordable way to sample quality cigars in each of the main types of wrapper leaf.

Im gonna toss my hat in for the house blends as well. A wonderful sampler for the beginner and veteran alike. Just an all around well made and quality stick. Once again everyone can see why ccom rules.

You also have to take into consideration some other factors when trying different wrappers... For instance, Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro and Mexican San Andreas Maduro... both maduro wrappers, both immensely popular, but also both very different. Connecticut shade wrapper grown in different places also makes a big difference.

We actually used to have a wrapper sampler with 10 cigars, each with a different wrapper. Not online anymore but if you call in we may have one or two or the guys may be able to make one up for you.

one way that i have demonstrated the effect of wrapper on a cigar is the AF 8-5-8. it comes in a few wrappers. the easiest to find would be the candela, the maduro and the cameroon. you can really see the taste difference there.

the other cigar that this was easy to see was the Forum blend (sorry to those who werent here for it) there is a huge difference between the Brazilian Arapiraca maduro and the Ecuadorian Sumatra. the filler and binder are the same.
