I'm still drooling over the Serie V maduros I have...forcing yourself to not smoke a cigar is hard...torturous even

I'm trying not to look at them until the spring....but something inside me says, "Hey, you got a few...you can smoke one now!"

    torturous is the word!
Resist the urge, Brandon!!!!! I've two of the V Maduro's and I'm not touching them until at least a year of rest.

But, I did have one straight out of the shop and it was BREATH TAKING!!!

My plan has been to hold out at least until spring rolls around to crack out a Serie V maduro, I may change plans, however, and break one out on the one year anniversary of my first cigar. I suppose the weather will decide that one, if it is still cold and crappy in a couple of weeks then I won't even bother.

Just came from the B&M and spoke to the Oliva rep. Not great news for the V Maddy. He basically said that they are limited production due to how and how long they age/ferment the tobacco. Probably will be just a limited or seasonal deal. Hoard while you can...

Other interesting tidbits...they have enough tobacco for the G Cams to cover the next 7 years under the current growth/sales pattern (doubling every year).

Top selling Oliva smoke...G Cam Churchill, he said its add b/c the sales for smaller sticks are increasing but this one is the top seller in singles and boxes.

    SO, What did I get...
    MB3 robusto
    V robusto
    G Maddy Churchill
...and free from the rep...Nub Habano
    not too shabby!

I'm like most, I prefer the robustos and toros but I figured it is worth a try since it is my fave and I want to see how the flavors develop in a longer smoke.

I have a nice stash of the G Maduro in the Robusto size and they are a great smoke. One I plan on keep on hand at all times, but I really can't wait to pick up a few of the V's

Oliva is the only cigar company that puts out nicaraguan cigars that i like. I wonder how they blended that.... or what other countries, primings, fermentation proscesses, etc.... makes me like THAT nicaraguan cigar.

Glad you asked...I had asked if they were puros or not since it is on some of the boxes. They are to extent, the filler being strictly from Nic but of course the Cam wrapper being from Africa. He said they use tobacco from all over the country instead of just from a few farms in one particular region of the country. This is how they developed the complexity of the cigars. Also, the maduros are fermented slower instead of the quick/high-heat way to do mass production hence the difference in coloration of some of the wrappers.

Kuz, I know you like the complexity of the Hondurans. Maybe some of the farms border Honduras...lol.

Isn't that the Oliva Special S (S - skittles), so you can taste the rainbow.

Another thing...he aslo mentioned that Nic tobacco like to be a tad dryer when you smoke it, around 64rh. I found that interesting.

i keep my humi at 65%... iduno... maybe it is the primings. it just seems that when i look back on my reviews or i am smoking a cigar and i feel that the taste is a bit off they are almost always nicaraguan... but not Olivas.

I keep mine at 67, he said that is ok but once you hit 70 or more you will have problems. Since I am getting a new humi for Christmas I may make my old humi a 'ready smoke' and bring the rh down to 65 or so.

My buddy and I split an order and we both really enjoyed them. We have the Serie V. Didn't find it terribly strong and I am a mild to medium guy. Very good draw and construction was excellent. Good flavor and tons of smoke and nice ash.
