Salt Test

My hygrometer had been staying at 61%, I talked to a ccom rep who assured me that was ok and that he actually preferred his humi to be around there because it gave his cigars a nicer burn and a better draw. I decided to salt test my hygrometer and after 24 hours it read 50%, I just put it back in my humi last night so I'm not sure what the current reading is. Any ideas on why it didn't read 75% after the salt test? I really don't feel that my hygrometer is that far off because my cigars have been fresh, burning evenly and have had a nice easy draw.

The salt test does not make your hygro read 75%, what it does is create an environment if done correctly that is 75% and then you know how far your hygro is off...Usually you would callibrate the hygro inside the sealed bag once the test is done by pushing the callibrate button, it will then make the hygro read 75% and when you put it in your humi you'll have fairly accurate reading...if there is no callibrate option then you would add 25% to whatever number is in your humi...as long as you don't have issues with your cigars you're good otherwise if you don't like it being off so far and it doesn't have a callibration option get another, I would suggest a Xikar...

If thats the case even though you're not having issues with your cigars I would still suggest getting a Digital, much more reliable and accurate....

Just put an order in for a digital hygro and a Nica Libre Assortment Sampler just for good measure.
