Alternatives to Oust fans for humidors?

I'm building my second coolidor and unfortunately, Oust fans have been discontinued. Searching the interwebs for affordable battery powered alternatives, I stumbled upon an OFF mosquito repellant clip on fan. Anyone have any experience with these? Do they move enough air for a 70 quart cooler?

Obviously I'd take the repellant out. ;)

Obviously I missed an important detail: these aren't on a timer. That being said, anyone have a good alternative to Oust fans other than rigging up a PC fan?

Dumb question but what's the fan for? Circulation I assume. Are they a nessacery addition to a coolidor?

Wish I could help but rigging up a PC fan is the way I went. Works great with a timer, though.

Not a dumb question at all. It's just for air circulation. The nice thing about the Oust fans is that they're on a timer to go for just a minute every 15 minutes, so you get good battery life, necessary circulation, no over drying.

What is the verdict on the necessity of this? For the record, this particular cooler is strictly for box storage as of now, so I'm not sure just how important this would be anyways. Thoughts?

I'm curious about this to. If and when I ever get to where I start buying boxes, I'm sure I'll be storing them in a cooler.

i dont think it is 100% necessary. if the cooler is small enough the humidity wont vary that much.
    of course, it wont hurt.
this is needed more in a taller cabinet style humidor. the humidity will rise to the top. the fan will push it back to the other sticks.

I'll bet that opening and closing the coolidor all the time helps with that too. ;) In that case, I may put the one fan I do have into the aging coolidor and call it good on the first one used for singles. Thanks for the input kuzi!

LMAOOOOOOOOOOO! TOTAL cut-n-paste screw-up from goofing around on the AWMIGAWD! thread in Trades, Passes & Bombs yesterday! Sorry if I caused anyone some unwanted eye strain looking at that wildebeast! :-)

I bought a little 110v fan and a receptacle timer....it's over kill but no batteries and air gets circulated very well.

Wish I saw this thread earlier! Apologize as I do know where you can still buy oust fans. I bought them when I did my coolidor few months back. It was tough to find, but I did find em and transaction went smooth. Here is the link to where I got it from...

They say scratch and dent, but it was just the packaging that was bent or something, they were still sealed in the packaging...

Dang, this would have saved me 6 bucks! It's never too late though, I'll be sure to check this out the next time I need a fan. Great deal (compared to eBay).

As long as you open up the cooler once in a while I don't really think they're necessary. I've thought of buying some, but in the year plus that I've been using coolers it hasn't been an issue. That's hardly scientific, but I wouldn't sweat it.
