Same here. I try to get my news from many different sources and the internet and try to wade through the crap. If a story basically appears in the same fashion in many different news sources I give it a higher level of believability.

Also I do everything I can to avoid fox or msnbc, which isn't easy because I like my news to skew to my views, but it's hard to form an informed opinion without the factual information.

I tend to like the news casts on PBS and other public access stations. They can be a bit productionally rough but there is not a bunch of crap and fluff pieces. Local news is only good for local events (which will be in the first 5 min) and the rest of the big networks are nothing but political propagandizeation machines which have been all but consolidated to the point of communist broadcasts; that is unless you like talking political heads who just like to get people talking for the sake of ratings by being divisive and antagonistic without much regard to substance and merit of newsworthiness. I agree that one must "seek out" much of the relevant and prudent information and it can be tiresome/irritating sifting through the dregs of so called "news". It is quite sad when we hear about celebrity news when a war has broken out somewhere or mass famine/death/destruction takes a backseat to some idiotic fluff piece. Makes me sick, people know more about celebrities and dumb shows than about American history, our present status, and world events. It's all part of dumbing us down I guess . People must watch it though or else they'd put something else on. Then again, if you change the channel, chances are they own that one too! ~007out!

I've been told by a good friend who keeps up to date on current events that the Christian Science Monitor is objective. I have not taken the time to check it out, but it may be worth a look. http://www.csmonitor.com/

starting to gain a little mainstream attention.....the news congrolmerates are trying as they might to dismiss it as a few uninformed crazy yuppies or people with no real ideas or direction------which means its probably something to take a serious look at.

    beatnic:
They haven't gotten any attention because they have no coherent message. They are all over the page. Most of these folks are the anarchists that show up at G8 conventions and stuff. They are protesting the very institutions that their government has helped. Backasswards. I also noted that they are all white and young. Oh, and dirty. And the missing liberal media? Well, they like to stage their own news events. Go figure. LOL
Yeah, I get a kick out of the articles about this protest. It really does seem like a bunch of whiners that know their life sucks, but they don't know a) why it sucks, or b) what steps to rectify the situation. They have vague desires like "eliminate greed!" and "get rid of social injustice!". How exactly do you want to accomplish this? What action items are you looking for?

My vote is for violence if needed and knocking out these motherf*cking rich millionares and billionares than run the world and want everyone else to shut up about it-----any other country there would be some killings of families and uprising by the general population-------but our country continues to beleive the B.S. about it being about race, religion, rights, morals, ect. when all it really is is the haves doing the dam*dest to keep the have not's staying that way. Spare me the idea of hard work and production too, I know there is people who got their money that way.....but when the time comes that you make 300 million dollars a year--ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I know, Im a socialist pig.....F*ck it-----------------------Pardon the militantcy tonight, been a real rough freakin day.

Sounds like a joke, but have you seen some of the interviews they've done with some of those retards?? Seriously, they truly don't know what they're protesting. They just feel good about being there, have met some 'cool' people etc. Those are the responses I've heard anyway.

No I didn't think it was a joke, I believe they are retards, just found that humorous. I heard an interview on the radio with one of them. Confirmed my suspicions
