Remember the first hint. Water. When I took this picture it was the first time in my forty-six years I laid eyes on this specimen and that's incredible considering I've spent my whole life fishing. Hint.Hint.
This is A female Eastern Dobsonfly. It started its life as A Hellgrammite. After two years in A freshwater stream it leaves the water and digs A burrow under logs or rocks until it sheds its exoskeleton transforming it into its adult stage of which I pictured. Interesting reading. Who knows what lurks out there?
