betasynn:Apologies, I'm still pretty new. So I'll re-purpose this thread. I have a question regarding your local tobacco shops; I know this place right by where I live, called Maxi's Cigar Store. I like the guy, and he cuts me pretty decent deals (throws in freebie cigars, cuts a dollar of the prices here and there...) However, I wonder, since he sells Padilla 1936's for 18 dollars a stick (and they are generally like, 13 here? 11 even?) I was wondering if cigar shops in general are over priced, or if I should be looking for a better shop.
rwheelwright:Brother, on this forum we try and not post deals to other sites out of respect for Cigar.com and because we were asked by Alex to refrain from doing so. Just wanted you to know.

I would question this policy. This is not a private forum. This is a publically accessible website - this is the internet - to restrict or censor discussion in such a manner is counter productive to a website in the long run. We are clearly here as we are customers of Cigar.com - whilst you may not find coupons for another retailer in another retailer's premises, the internet is not like brick and mortar stores.
betasynn:I think that this argument should be stopped. The ad has been removed, this discussion is pretty fruitless. Let's just keep talking about cigars, and maybe the question I have posted at the top and then the next one a little ways down.
Krieg:my local cigar bar is usually little higher than most places online, but I usually just go up there to have a drink and have a smoke while watching a ball game. I also buy a cigar or two just to help out the local cigar establishment because I like having a cigar bar close to me (since I live in the country, that's even rarer). I also like browsing their walkin humidor, the smell is fantastic!
benski: As a small matter of note - the forum most certainly is a public one - it may be owned by a private company, but that makes no odds: no registration is required to view the contents of the site.
Matt Marvel:Buying a product online is usually cheaper than in a B&M store in my experience. For one, there's usually no tax involved, and B&M's charge more to cover cost. As for exclusives, I'm not really sure. I'm sure there's a few out there that do have them.

I'm ok with paying 10$ a stick for a 10$ stick, I have a problem with paying 15$ for a 6$ stick, of course I live in the Republic of California, so I guess I'm lucky I can even get stogies here.

Cigar.com has every right to make whatever rules about the forum that it owns and runs. they have the right to enforce those rules as they see fit. they also have the right to let the general public view their privately run forum.

So didn't Joshua Smelko step in as the moderator, presumably for exactly this type of thing? He would represent ccom and decide what they did and didn't want up here, rather than the customers deciding. Just saying...
