    I like the soft over the torch but I have said the hell with all lighters and use a cedar stick instead. They burn cooler, never scorch the foot, impart flavor, and to be honest it feels more elegant. However, nothing is better than a torch when smoking outdoors.

    Have you guys ever had a fuel taste from using a soft flame lighter? I have used them before and not noticed but my palate is untrained too. Oh guess I should have look back a few posts...

    Soft flame for lighting a cigar. Torch for adjusting the burn.
