More bad news...

As some of you may know, I was laid off from work a few weeks ago. My fiance and I have been struggling financially since we only have one income and my job search is proving fruitless. Add on the wedding planning and the fact that we're having to move back into my dad's house in Illinois and there's plenty of stress to go around... But it seems that the bad news just keeps on coming. I just found out that my fiance, who has an extra vertebrae fused to her hip, will be in pain the rest of her life. She just visited the chiropractor and they said that because the vertebrae is fused to the hip, there's no way of operating on it to remove it. The pain, I can tell, is unbearable for her, and she says she is having trouble even walking. Once we're married (next July) we won't be able to stay on either of our parent's insurance policies, and we're not sure if chiropractic coverage will be possible or even affordable. Her chiropractor said that the only way to help with the pain, other than medication, is to come in every week for the rest of her life and basically get realigned... I'm usually not a mid-day smoker, but I'm about to light one up.

Something else to consider.. I'm going to go out on a limb and say either way, married or not, both of you probably won't be able to stay on either of your parent's insurance policies much longer as it is (assuming you are both ~23yo and out of school)?

So sorry to hear this, man. Seems that we're kinda in the same boat. My wife has two deteriorated discs and I was laid off from a job a month or so ago. I'll keep you both in my prayers. I truly hope things will work out for the both of you.

I think I would consult a specialist in the matter. And not go by what a Chiropractor says alone. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for all the support guys, I really appreciate it. Hayblet, we'll be moving in with my dad back in my hometown of Champaign, IL for the time being. Until we get our situation under control it makes sense to live at home (no rent) and we can start getting some money in the bank.

+2 Sorry to hear that Jarrett. Research and try to get second and third opinions. Daily pain really sucks but it sounds like you're supportive and that's the best medicine. Pm me if you need anything..

Thanks for all of the kind words and support my friends, we are going to be moving to Champaign, Illinois within the next month, to my dad's attic. Emily has also been talking with her parents and she will be able to stay on their insurance, which will help pay for some of her chiropractor appointments.

Sorry to hear brother! I hope things get better soon!! But as far as chiropractors I think they are a sham!! I would go to a real doctor and get advise maybe from a specialist. But no kidding the chiropractor wants you to keep coming back and that nothing will fix it... More money for him! I've dealt with back issues and was always told to avoid chiropractors since they are just a temp fix and can make things worse
