General silica gel packets for a humidor

I run the tech department of a school that repairs of all their own computers and i get parts from our vendor all the time with the silica gel packets in them.
Is this the same silica gel that is in the kitty litter that you all suggest to use for humidors?
I could easily put together a full cup of packets if this is the case.

not the same stuff. The silica your talking about just absorbs moisture. It will not release any.
