anyone a handy man?

I haven't done a search for this on the web or anything but I figured I'd ask here. I have a new dishwasher that was installed before I bought my house. The thing is awesome but sometimes there's a pool of water that is on the floor. Anyone know what I should look for? I have no idea about this stuff.

Mine has a Hot Water Feed and a Drain Return. Ive seen them leak from the ends that connect ON the DW its self. Usually its cross-threaded or the pipe tape wasnt applied correctly or at all. I would pull it out and re-pipe tape it and make sure its connected. Some older lines are cheap plastic like flex tubes and can be replaced with better rubber ones.

Whatever it is (probably the connection as described), it should be delt with asap. Leaky dishwashers are notorious for attracting termites.

Hopefully that will be the easiest an inexpensive fix, if not my next guess would be its something with the "innards" of the dishwasher. Idk though, never had that problem, thankfully. Good luck.

Good question. I thought my dishwasher was leaking, it was actually the fitting at the U below the sink, the outlet from the DW draining in above it. A little tightening and voila! No more leak.

I really hate plumbing - of all the DIY stuff, plumbing is my least favorite.

Aint it the truth! Don't know how many times I've had to go back for the RIGHT valve stem instead of the one I just bought, or when I spent my 40th birthday installing a new toilet (I was born on Halloween) in the guest bathroom, or when I was crawling around in the crawl space, and gave myself a black eye by whacking it into a cast iron pipe. That was a real "three stooges" moment..I really hate plumbing.

I have a kitchen faucet that has been getting looser and looser. I know what it will take to fix it, I just don't feel like performing contortionist movements while laying on my back! I did that while I was in my 20's, that was many many years ago. F PLUMBING! no wonder plumbers make so much money! God Bless them.

so I figured this out. Seems as though LG have a fancy sort of drying system in their machines. Yup, there is a plunging device that is suppose to generate heat from under the panel door (in the front). there is a plastic vent that attaches to the fan/plunger unit. Well that was defective, but the one I have had the new plastic vent. However for some reason when I took it all apart and put it back the water puddles stopped. Seems as though before the condensation would collect and then drip on the floor (as the plastic vent ends at the bottom of the door). I think I may have to buy a new plunger unit though but it seems to be working now.

Good to hear you found the problem... Here in Ta-Town we have a crappy little place (see hard to get to before they close) that is amazing when it comes to getting the right part... walk in with a model and problem... walk out with right part. EVERY TIME! I have fixed every appliance in the house up to and including the A/C Heater... and it is typically cheaper than ordering parts of net. Had to just visit them last week due to a child deciding to use the plastic drawer in fridge as a step stool to get into top of freezer. Online $15-30. Washer Specialist (the hole in the wall) $6.76 tax included. Great place to know... I would suspect there is a place like that in your neck of the woods.

Sadly the thing I have learned is that getting parts sucks around me. All of the stores are in portland and close around 5 or at the latest 6. And they usually are mon-through friday. which is retarded. and they don't have a good website to see their inventory. It's almost impossible for me to get to them before they close. So I have to go online. I hate how all the shops have pretty much gone away.

Agreed... Working the weekends like I have for the last 2 years it made it easier... but moving back to first shift next month. Which will make it harder for me, but knowing that they close at 4, I just take off hour early to get there. Sucks but you do what you will to pay the bill.

Most of the mom and pop shops have been put out of business by the big box stores. Try to locate an Ace Hardware nearby where you live. I find they are independently owned, open on weekends and will really go out of their way to help you. Good Luck
