Hot and Squishy

Okay, I have had a few sticks that get really soft and squishy between the band and the shoulder, any ideas on what causes this? Some of these have been El cheapo's and some have been quality sticks. I tend to smoke pretty slow so I don't think that's it. IDK

Sometimes even if you smoke slow, a tight draw can cause this to happen. Did the sticks have a loose or tight draw? Also, what kind of cut do you use? Sometimes a smaller cut, like a V or a punch will "tar" up (brown goop sometimes comes out!) But it is dues to some kind of buildup, either tar or moisture from a tight draw or smoking fast. But if it is happening when smoking slow... I am not sure what exactly is going on.
