Pricing out cars and rooms in Vegas... Woot! Cheap rental and nice hotel room? or expensive rental and cheap hotel room? Who has been to Vegas and where did you stay? Recommendations? We will only be in Vegas for one night so it wont be an extended stay. Possibly somewhere with a cigar lounge....

I am currently looking at ARIA Resort & Casino... The corner suite. :)

the one time I was there I stayed at the Vedara (sp?), which was REALLY nice and didn't have a casino in it so it was much more peaceful at the end of the night. I think it's part of the same complex as the Aria and I'm sure it's the same as the Cosmopolitan. The hallways also have a great view of the water show at the Bellagio.

The Cosmopolitan is fantastic. The studios with a view of the fountain from the balcony are worth the money if you ask me. I've stayed there a few times and my wife and I love it. Even the "small" rooms are awesome and they all have balconies which is really rare in Vegas. Even if you don't stay there you should at least walk through there. For a cigar lounge I'd say Casa Fuente in the forum shops, best selection of sticks within walking distance of those hotels.

I've stayed at the Excalibur, Harrah's and Belagio.

On the strip, Excalibur had the best deal on rooms.
Harrahs and Belagios was a little on the expensive side.
New York New York usually has good deals too.

But if you want a really nice hotel at a great cost, check out the Hacienda Hotel on Lake Mead.
It's about 20 miles outside Vegas, but it's a very quiet hotel.
Nice size suites for extremely low costs.
Budget rentals at the airport usually has pretty good weekly deals on car rentals.

Any of the hotels on the strip are with in walking distance of Casa Fuente.

As expected, the are a little higher. But bring your own, buy a couple queen B's or king B's and have a good time.

Well then, we have plenty of time.
You will have something to safely transport cigars by then.
But it may require getting together and having a few cigars together. LOL!

I've found quite a few good options on amazon and CCOM. Think I can pull something off by July. Lol

    Chris,
I know you said it is only one night, but how long are you planning on being there? If it is only like 24 hours I would do cheap on the rental car as you'll hardly need it. As for as a place to stay I would look at the Mirage as the Rhumbar is there. The Rhumbar, IMHO, is so much better than Casa Fuente for the smoking experience; much bigger, outside, great to people watch. Casa Fuente is in Caesar's Palace so they really aren't that far apart.

+100, your right in the thick of things at either the Mirage or the Caesar's Palace. We stayed at the Palace last year for the first time and now its my wife's fav place. My I suggest catching a show right next store at the Treasure Island, Mystre is a kick azz show that's reasonable.

    Do not buy one.
Good grief. I mean if you don't want to get together at some place like Cascade for a travel humi, then I'm offended.

You have no idea how many of the damn things I have. One less isn't gonna hurt me.

We are only gonna be in Vegas for one night and most of a day. The grand plan is to fly into Vegas, get our car, drive out to Rachel (151 miles away) stay the night and see the Area 51 sights. The next day drive back into Vegas and putter around the strip, have dinner and take in the night. Then check out and fly home the next day. So ultimately im gonna be throwing down over 350+ miles on a the rental and little time in the hotel.

    LOL!
    No worries.
I often get a lot of these humis on deals and I really don't have a need for all of them, so I often give them to folks who need them.
And if it makes and excuse to go to Portland, then there is nothing wrong with that.

So, when you drive back into Vegas, you can park the car as it is really a b!tch to drive on the Strip most of the time. Besides, everything is right there. I'm a fat man and I walk the Strip whenever I go, usually 2 - 3 times a year, so if I can do it............Not sure if you are into the mob but the Mob Museum is pretty cool to check out. I'll be there in March so I'll make sure to lose enough money in Vegas so they can leave all the lights on for you in July. No need to thank me :) as I would do it anyway.

You may want to check out the Fountains show at the Bellagio but don't waste your time on the Sirens show at TI.

If you aren't there on a weekend and willing to do a bit of haggling, after dark helicopter tours of the strip are awesome and rather affordable. It was ~$100 for two of us last time I was there, and about a 30 minute flight. Really cool and gets you back in time for a late dinner around 9.

Totally agree, the Sirens BS was the biggest waste of time we did when I was there. Has the quality of low budget porn with none of the good parts.
