Good Morning, it is Sunday the 6th of July , a hot & humid day here in Da Burgh , Finallllly, after weeks of Rain , But nothing like the poor souls in the Mississippi river area , , with all the farm land that has been flooded & all the citys divistated , why dont we see any riots & name calling & finger pointing lootings & the same stuff we saw in New Orleans ? is it the nature of the farmers to take care of there own & not want any help from the federal Government ?????? , I guess its just the way things are , I grew up in a suburban area now I live in a rural area, that is slowing getting developed into an Urban area , ( it SUCKS) , & I can see the difference in attitude of the City folks comming out to the country & find out they need to do things for them selves, Like CUT the grass , hey Dummie you got a house with a Yard now Not an appartment with A Building maintenence staff to change your light bulbs , I have been here over 30years now & its funny to see how self reliant I have become , I have a tool box , & a power drill, & a SHOVEL & RAKE , God Help me I dont use them Much But I have !!! , give me a good Knife & a stove I am fine, but me & a 2 x4 with hammer & nails are not a good mix, , however I can if needbe use them, but some of the city slickers moving out here for the "fresh " air will learn just like I did , when the farmer spread the manure on the fields the Fresh air is RIPE hahahahahaha there is a wild growning Blackberry bush in one corner of my yard, I have been getting my fingers stained as I stand there & watch in amazement of Gods Glory & how that little seed I spit out 10 years ago or so has beveloped into a fruit bearing bush , complete with thorns to get you to stop eating before you eat them all , yea a few scratches 7 when the blood starts to drip onn the shoes , you know its time to stop hahahaha I have pandora .com playing right now , dave brubeck , man this is great , since i found Pandora I havent tirned on the TV at work , just crank up the Jazz on Pandora & relax with a fine OLD Cigar & a well aged single malt with a pot of Fresh ground coffee & tell the customers to wait till the song is over before I move hahahaha I have a NICE set of Porterhouse steaks sitting in a light marinade & some Yams that will hit the grill some time this afternoon , I will Qtr. the spuds , give them a light coat of EVOO & drop them on the grill about the same time I put the piece of beef on for my wife , when hers is almost creamated then I will put mine on , threaten it with a little heat , get some nice grill marks on it to show me where to Cut hahaha, thats about all it will need ! Coffee this morning is a Mexican coffee of some sorts, my wife picked it up at the new coffee roaster in New Brighton Pa , the place is called hallowedgrounds , they are turning out some great stuff so far , we are working our way through the menu of several different styles & roasts of a lot of different blends & single coffees , you can call them at 724-581-JAVA ( a shameless plug ) , tell them I recomended them to you & dont worry they know who I am for Sure hahaha #2 grandson had a tooth pulled this past week, his braces came off & he is just using a retainer at night now , , to many teeth on one side of his mouth & not enough on the other , so Now when he smiles you see teeth not braces , he said it feels funny ............... yea I guess so !! #1 gradson is finishing up his cooking class at the Sweetwater arts & has had a crash course on Caviar , salmon, & cream cheese , now he want to add caviar to everything , well slow down cowboy this stuff is 'SPENCIVE , I am going to show him the food bill & hope he understands you just dont have caviar 3 times a week let alone 3 times a day , 3 times a year can break the bank ! I am having a rabbit problem.... I have this round cement decotative "stone" beside the walkway, its been there a year , never had any problems with is till now, it is set in sand , & for a year the birds, chipmunks & rabbits just ran over & arround it, Now the Dumb Bunnys are digging up the sand & laying there , I gues its cooler , or maybe warmer, , it is all out in the open so I dont think they are trying to nest , but I added a bottle of RED PEPPER flakes to the sand, , same thing all over again, sand tossed every where , for a year it looked like a fine Japeneese sand garden , now it looks like a kids sand box !!! , anyone have any ideas how to get rid of the rabbits , with out cooking them hahahaha ???? I was out doing a cigar tasting yesterday in a mall shop , I have never seen so many people come in a cigar shop who were not smokers, I offer a cigar , they say No thanks I dont smoke I was just looking at the shop, , in the 4 hours I was there I must have had 20 people say NO to a FREE cigar , they had to smoke it there , as the mall was NON smoking but the shop had a smoking lounge , so inside the shop was OK but not OUTSIDE ........ , I dont understand that, you go to the mall to shop & if you dont smoke cigars why would you come in a cigar shop to "LOOK" & COMPLAIN about the AROMA , stupid jack@$$e$ , it says CIGAR SHOP on the door what do you think was being sold there & smoked there , a BIG cloud of smoke Billowing up from 8 or 10 Cigar smokers & you come in & *** about the AROMA , GIVE ME A GUN !!!!! There will NOT be a POSTING next Sunday Morning , I am heading for vegas & the RTDA show , Next Sunday Morning , I knows they changed the name from RTDA to some othe BS , but RTDA is what I remember , I dont know if I will get one posted saturday Night or not, so you will need to put you collictive minds on Hold or get a life hahahaha Hey i am looking out he window at the pasture & this DUMB cow has her back to the electric fence & swishing her tail back & forth Hitting he frece, getting a small shock as I can see the spark & the mussel contract on the hind Qtr,& she isnt moving away from the fence, , hummmm mabe she likes it ! , I sire am going to miss the pasture when the old guy dies & his kids sellit for home development , if I had the cash I would buy it my self & keep it cow pasture , rent it out to some one who wanted to raise beef & not Kids , I dont want to get into raising beef now way to old for all that hard work !!! speaking of OLD this past Friday was the BIRTHDAY OF THE USA , I had the TV on a little & caught a little of the Musical 1776 , dammm I miss drinking with my Buddys Ben & Tom hahahaha , but back then it was mostly Rum , Beer & wine, the drink of the day was Tea, & dont get me wrong , I like a cup of tea here & there BUT I AM A COFFEE person , with a little Single malt on the side , they just pair up a lot better than Tea with anything , Rum & bourbon are to sweet for my taste buds & since i never use sugar in my coffee or tea ,,, scotch is My dram of choice all most noon time for me to get my formerly fat @$$ in gear & get going , Enjoy the next 2 weeks I will try to post next saturday but I cant be sure , SEE YOU IN VEGAS Enjoy, Vince

LIVE from the Burgh , its Saturday Night ....... Off the the RTDA show in the morning so here is the weeks BS from da burgh, Busy is all I can say , i was out selling on Monday, worked the shop on Tuesday, back out for a tasting at Cordys cigar box in Girard Ohio on Wed, back in the shop on Thursday & friday night I was there till 10:55 , was trying to stay till 11PM but no one there from about 10:35 so I packed it up . , so today i slept in a bit , went to the store to stock up on Grocerys for the Boss while I am out in LV, dammmm I hate to leave her home hahahahaha , yea why take a sandwich to a FEAST !, anyway she hates to fly . The Political world of Penna, was turned upside down as a few former & current state legeslature's were Indited on Corruption charges , BIG photos on the front page of the paper with them in handcuffs , YEA Baby , when you sleep with the dogs you get flees ! one guy had 58 counts against him with a possable 300 years in Jail, looks like he will plead his case, get 8 years & pay back about 10% of the public money he stole , to light a sentence if you ask me , Castration & public beatings isnt enough for them, , well you figure a guy making 65K a year as a member of the state house , ( not bad money) but when you see him at the taylor shop getting a few 3500/4500 dollar custom made suits , well then you know some one else is paying for them , I just didnt know it was ME & my fellow taxpayers! Since I was out of town a few days last week i didnt get in the kitchen much, we did have a lot of Take out from the local Italian Bistro , seams like the anti pasta has been working overtime, LOTS of garlic , so dont get down wind of me hahaha, I feel sorry for the poor souls on the airplane ! , I wonder if I can get the 02 masks to drop hahahaha My daugher & the boys stopped at the shop today , I was walking down the street to pick up the Pizza for tonight & they were heading home from the movies , just good timming ! I have no idea what they went to see, what ever it was they liked it ,, hey when your 10/12 , anytime you get out of the house to watch a movie is a good time . I have a real delema do I take my travel mug with me or drink out of the cups they supply on the airplane, I have 2 carry ons , no checked bags , I need a third hand for the coffee cup & a FOURTH for the CIGAR ! , 4 hour flight , NO cigar for 4 Hours, .............................. & I have to come back ! , 8 hours total, what will happen to the industry if i stopped, catastrophic repercutions in the cigar world & the scotch distillerys , sure Hope I can DRINK on the plane ! , I havent flown since 82 , thats 1982 you smart @$$e$, & NO I didnt fly with Orval or Wilber , But I did date thier sister hahaha well its about time for me to think about packing & getting my cigars ready for the trip , filling all the water resavors in the 15 Humidors before I go , cause I know my wife will not do it when I'm gone ..... even if she knows I will be back ! Enjoy, Vince

Good morning, it is SUNDAY , 20 th of JULY , 2008, it was a BUSY week for me , as I was in LV for the Cigar convention, , , , , what happens in LV ....... well you know the saying BUT I can tell you I did come home with some cash, not a lot but sum, LV was not built on winners. , this was MY first time to the desert , people were "friendly ", but the cigar smoking was limited by the police, OK in the casino & on the street & your room, but not in the halls or the open spaces of the shopping areas , OH well the Nanny state is getting closer , way to many people thinking they know better than you & want you to do it there way & not yours, , 'cause my way is better, yea sure for you maybe but not for me , BS like Global warming, sure it happens, BUT so did the ice age , it is a cycle & this world will continue to have cycles , the sun shines & the world spins , water gets warm , & water gets cold , NOTHING we can do about it ! , I ate well on a few of the manufactures , hit a few partys , drank a LOT , smoked a ton of FREE cigars , some good some bad , got to meet a few readers of the Sunday morning smoke , made a lot of new contacts & managed to stay out of the hot sun for the most part I left home last Sunday Morning & got home Thursday about 3 am , slept most of the day went to work on Friday , had a good day there & bang off to the Cigar & BBQ at Slippery Rock cigars on Saturday , so I havent been home much & the wife is wondering who is this Strange Guy hahahaha I am planning on making a little pasta today , I have some fresh veggies & some Olive Oil , sounds like a nice sauce & a plate of tossed greens & that will be supper today, I ate enough sausage & deep fryed turkey yesterday to hold me for a meatless Monday on Sunday ! I did get a few T shirts for the kids & mailed them Home with my lighters & other Junk , dammm you got to travel light , carry on what ever you can , or pay to check in an over weight bag , NO not you wife, dammmmm you trying to get me in trouble hahaha to be honest with you all I am still tired from the 4 hour trip & the 32 hour time zone change , My internal clock has not reset it self & all the scotch didnt help, , so I am going to go cook breakfast for the boss & try to make her happy to see me. hahahaha Enjoy, Vince

Good morning , it is Sunday 27th of JULY 2008, a BEAUTY of a day here in da Burgh , the sky is blue with a few clouds , Looks like I will be sitting on the Back deck all day & not in the Qtr.Deck , No need to run the A/C as the temp is just wonderful , the humidity is low & the brease is cool from the SW & it clears the smoke under the roof, a Great looking day to come, , I did manage to sleep in a bit this morning, the Boss is still in bed & I havent even had a cup of coffee yet OR my Sunday Morning Don Carlos #3 ,,,, YET , , I Finally got my packages from Vegas so eveyone got there gifts yesterday & the shipment from Casa Fuente also hit so I got MY gifts , Dammmmm that place is 'SPENCIVE , But you dont need to smoke them all in the same day hahahaha , just think if all you ever smoked were ultra TOP shelf items , what would you look fwd. for the ocassional Marsh Wheeling? hahaha, nothing wrong with a Marsh, my first cigar to be truthfull, but you got to start someplce , & back in the mid 50's the hand rolled market was not as abundant here in da Burgh as it is NOW , well I wasnt aware of it anyhow , back then every one was smoking HAVANAS , REAL ones , ahhh yes the forbidden Fruit , BUT lets face it some of the stuff we are smoking today is better than some of the JUNK comming out of the Forbidden Zone , as the Numbers go up the Quality is goping down , I just hate to see the embargo lifted , the demand will sky rocket & the quality will go down like a a 20 buck whore when the fleet pulls in ! well the Boss got up & I made a cheese omlet for her & a little bacon on the side , & finished it off with a slice of watermellon & a mug of kona , she is now cleaning up the mess I made in the kitchen ............... & bitching about the mess I made , so that is a regular morning here , I have a nice set of porterhouse steaks to go on the grill today , & I will rip up a bunch of romane lettuce , slice a tomato if there are any red ones in the nieighbor garden hahaha, , & I have a Zuccuni to go on the grill with the Hunks of BEEF , No Marinade for the beef, just a little salt & pepper , a light brush of Butter & olive oil , & on the hot Grill, hers will be about 10 or 12 minutes , mine about 3 , maybe 3.5 , depends on how the ash is looking on my cigar at the time , cant rush it so I might need to take a few more puffs before I turn the beef over or take it off the grill . . there is a NEW DOG in the family nay a PONY my son in law went out & got a Mastiff , he is a 2 year old Fixed male named Kingston , get the slobber towl ready he is a DRULLER , but so Laid back , he sleeps a lot BUT is not leash trained , I tryed to take him for a walk, it was more like a drag , , the back of both my wrists are cut from the leash , the dog is STUPID strong, he wants to go right he just GOES , & with the FOUR feet drive & low center of gravity he is no match for my 2 feet on the ground & I ended up stumbling a lot but the knees never did hit the ground but dammmmm they HURT today , every car we walked past he wanted to get in , he would stand at the door & paw the handle, he wants to go for a ride or maybe return to the family who had him , but cant keep him as they are moving to a no pets allowed appartment , , a FUN dag for sure & the grandsons enjoy him so far, but this will be the 3rd Dog for them the first one Echo was a sweetheart( a real mixed breed, a small shepard body & a face of a Golden retriver , short hair & was just Gone one day from the yard , taken , ran off no one knows , then there was the Lab, he was a real handfull SEEMORE , he had his nose in EVERY THING , he always wanted to SEE MORE of everything, I think he was more MY dog than the grandsons , he was ready to go as soon as I walked in the door , he would go & get his leash & when we would get back from a walk , he would sit in front of the fridge waiting for the snacks, he had ME well trained , but he was distrutive when no one was home & with school & work he was home alone a lot , so he is Now living the life of of a retired country gentleman as ther companion of a retired farmer a few miles down the road from me & I get to see him every few weeks, when I stop over to visit he runs in the house through his dog door gets his leash & comes back out, now here is a STUPID dog, he hasnt been on a leash in years runs free on the farm, but when i go over he wants to go for a walk , well I guess he still cares !! the # 1 grandson is taking a Video class at Penn State Beaver County Campus , so I have been picking him up at 8 AM all week, & dropping him off before I head to the cigar shop , I havent seen any of his work yet but who knoew there might be an instructional tape on you tube showing how to smoke a cigar , sip scotch & drink coffee when you listen to Jazz . , he can film it edit it & pay the back ground piano music for it , & I guess I will be the one he tapes, who better hahahahaha. ??????? #2 Grandson has decided to hang up his dancing shoes for a set of Scoccor cleats , his lessons were going to be the same time as his games , so he elected to stop dancing , a BIG disapointment for his mother & grandmothers, they want to see him dance, but he wants to PLAY , dammmm he is only 10 cut the kid a break, when his Hormores kick in he will get back to dancing & hanging out with the girls ................. I hope hahaha there was a Graduation/birthday party last night one of the guys at the shop is turning 49 & his son graduated so there was a little get together last night that went on till well about NOW , I left about 9:30 last night & at 8 am he called , woke me up & asked me if he was supposed to open the shop today , & if he was he was way to drunk to do it , I told him No the shop was closed on Sundays & he said dammmm I thought it was Friday, hahahaha , well he did remember to call off even if he had the wrong day hahahaha the Kona has been drank & I have a pot of Black & Gold blend form the local coffee roaster Hallwed Grounds that I picked up yesterday in New Brighton Pa , , there was a CAR cruse in town & there were a few hundred CUSTOM & classic cars on the street, dammmm hard to belive that '55 Belair is over 50 years OLD , dammm I have been smoking Cigars over 50 years, makes me shudder to think that ................ with pandora playing Jazz & the clock getting past 11 I better get this Posted before Noon then it will be the Sunday afternoon smoke & not the Sunday MORNING smoke I just mightr forgo the Don Carlos #3 this morning in favor of a Casa Fuente Corona .... Naw Y mess with TRADITION ..... Enjoy, Vince

Good MORNING it is Sunday , 10th of August ,2008, Not much going on this week I was not very active at all, went back to work on Wed. & didnt do much at all , just staightend out the mess my buds left for me hahaha, still a lot to do in that respect , How ever I did go to Pittsburgh & did a tasting of Don Gonzalezs a wonderful puro from Nicaragua, still a small batch made cigar but tasty as anything I have had , I love the Maduro , but the Cojhrois a very nice spicy smoke , the natural Connecticut wrapper is not a puro but dammmmm a smoooooooth smoke , but od the 3 wrappers , I like the maduro . I have been smoking a few sticks I picked up in LV , last night I had a Pitite corona Claro , no band on it , lasted almost an hour , TONS of smoke & burned slow & true & great flavor, but I have NO IDEA where it came from, , OH welll chalk that one up to a great smoke with out a pasport or even a green card !! Breakfast this morning was SO DAMMMMM EASY , Barb made the coffee & opened a package of store bought danish, I had a cheese & blackberry , she had just plain cheese , dammmmmm I love being lazy on a Sunday morning, But I am going to make up for it with supper, veal is on todays menu, I picked up a veal cutlet that will be lightly dusted in seasoned flour & pan seared with BUTTER & EVOO , laid on a bed of home made fettuccini & covered with a pan sauce with fresh buffalo mortzella, dammmm I am getting wood just thinking about it hahahaha The Boys were here thursday night when I got home from the leaf & bean in Pittsburgh, , so we had a little fun before bed time & thursday night , then Friday morning I took the big one with me to the eye docto get his frames adjusted & to the Church to Pick up Pieroghis ( like a ravolli, but filled with ***, or potatos, or cheese , but no red gravy, melted Butter & onions ) for lunch , I think every cuisine has a version of the stuffed dumpling, from Pot stickers to hush puppys , its all Good stuff. , well I dropped them off at home when I was on my way to the shop for the friday night BYOB, I will be in the shop all day Monday as we have a lot of new product to find space for on the shelves , with the help from Tim we will be Moving stuff & closing out some of the SLOW movers, we are also going to add a Computer scanning system to the shop , a lot of work pricing every cigar with a bar code , but doing it just one box at a time , it might take a few weeks to get it all done but then checking in new orders with the bar codes will be a breeze, scan it , put it on the shelf ! last friday night was a SLOW night at the shop , opening of the summer games & the Steelers were at home & on the tube so a lot of the regulars were at the game , so it was a Nice Quiet day at the shop, I stopped at the local coffee shop after i got off at 11 PM & took home a sausage pocket pastry, split it with the boss for lunch onm Saturday, like a pizza but a different crust, almost like a pie crist, but loaded with hot sausage & peppers with a little hot pepper cheese in it , made my nose run ! all it needed was a little horse raddish & some ketchup hahahaha & a dash Of JOE PERRYS Bone sucking hot sauce , thanks for the heads up on that one Wacco !! I have a Don Carlos #3 calling to me , the Kona is about done & after the black silk( from Foldgerls I do enjoy ) , the kona & the DC# will give my taste buds a Jolt & return my taste buds back to center & start the tasting all over again ! Enjoy, Vince

Thats true Vince, Zen does need strong flavors, a Pinot or dry Reisling might work too. How did the veal turn out?
  • Vince OVince O Everyone, Registered Users Posts: 279

    the veal was GREAT

Good Morning it is Sunday 17 August 2008, A fantastic day here in da burgh , this past week has been super, highs in the Mid 70's , lows in the mid 50's , dont need to run the A/C, keep the windows open all night & we havent had any rain in a few weeks , the grass is burning out so it isnt in the need of being cut, just an all arround good patch of weather we are having ! I have the house to my self today, the Boss went to some craft show with her sister, so I know of 2 households that will be nice & QUIET today hahahaha I put a full week in at the shop & will be going in a little today just to clean & fill the humidors with water, & maybe have a weeee dram when I am there , Now i could have a weee dram here , but its a lot better when there is some one to talk to .................. the only time i drink is when i am with some one or am alone, hahahaha but the conversation is a lot better when there is some one to talk to , welllllll it will depend on WHO your talking to , some times the wall is better than a person hahahaha Since the boss is away for the day i have a pot of peppers onions & beef going in the slow cooker , should be ready about 5 PM , I will add some vine ripe tomatos about 1 & let it all cook down , time to add the 3 whole heads of garlic , & a dash of worchertshire , by the time I add the tomatos the garlic will have melted into the beef & peppers adding a Perfume to the house & adding to the potency of the gas I will be passing in the morning hahahaha I didnt do much of anything this week, just work, well its realy not work, but it is a fun time , if you enjoy what you do you will never WORK a day in your life & let me tell you , what i do is NOT W O R K , when I was cooking , it was work some times , but some times it was not, when I was on 1460 WMBA Radio is was not all work , & now that I am out selling cigars, smoking cigars , sipping single malt & drinking coffee & listening to Jazz all day & GETTING Paid ( BUT NOT ALL THAT MUCH , but at this point inmy life WHO CARES !! ) to do it , dammmmm how much better can it be ??? I havent seen any action in the cow pasture this past week, dammmm I miss ole angus McStudd , ever since he was sold the pasture just isnt the same with out him, yea there are a few little ones running around but not as many or as big as the sons & daughters of the Studd machine !, & the Cows dont seam as " satisfide" any more hahahahaha the Bird have been eating everything in sight the raspberry bush was tore up by the whrens & chickadees , the cardinals, bluejays & doves have been leaving deposits on my windshield & the back deck , some times I wish we didnt have the Bird feeder, but then they are a kick to watch & listen to them sing all day, execpt for the dammmm DOVES loud & horney bastards , I think they try to hump more than ole angus did ( for you new readers angus mcstudd was the Bull in the pasture next to my place , & he was the KING of his harium, world champ, & studd to the rich & famous in the cattle breading world ) but he is now living on through his Frozen Sperm as he was sold a few years back , Tuffest tenderloin I ever had hahahahaha we stocked a few new brands this week, Sun grown Don Tomas & a 6 X60 Partagas black lable, , I love the par.Black lable but I dont want lock jaw so I will pass on the 6 x x60 , thank you BUT NO thank you , just to Big for me , now a 8.5 X 52 , I am all over that , a 54 some times , but unless its a tapered head, nothing bigger than that, I am verrrry happy with a 45 to 50 ring , SAM you hear that, how about a NUB with a 50 ring ? hahahaha ( Yea like Sam will be reading this ) hahaha This past Thursday night I did venture out to Mountaineer park for a 10 cane rum & Rocky Patel tasting , a great buffette with a lot of island classics , the Mango salsa was a killer, tasty & sweet at first bite then the F I R E hits you just as you swallow it , dammmmmmmmm I have beads of persperation on my forehead just thinking about it again !!! Nextthursday will be a tasting at Alleghney Smoke works in Blawnox Pa , just north east of the Burgh , I am north west , so I will be heading theree ,a Talasker single malt, chocolate & Ashton cigars , dammmmmmm I am ALL OVER THAT , I will be taking my old buddy Mike Papas , he isnt a scotch drinker, So I get his ! hahaha , yea like I need any more whisky to add to what I all ready sip, , I do ENJOY a wee dram , never to excess, thats just waisting good booze, it seams to me if you want the effect, dring the cheep crap & get sick all you want , but leave the smoooooth as a babys bottom for as Sippers who enjoy the taste & not the effect, like some DUSHBAG ordering a 150 year old Brandy & mixing it with orange soda , hey just because the moey is there dosent mean you have any taste or class hahahaha , , well I dont have that kind of money or class, but I do have the diserning taste to know you just dont mix a 150 year old brandy with orange soda , or ANYTHING, , neet in a snifter warmed with your hands & savored with a Fine cigar, Not filled with ice & smoked with a swisher sweet ,,,, dammmm rich bastards just piss me off hahahaha well it is time for the next pot of coffee, the Kona is now making way for the Kenya AA , or maybe the Columbian supremo , well I have a Casa Fuente this morning so I might just fire up a pot of Brazillian Santos or a New Orleans Community coffee ................... well maybe a second pot of KONA , YEA KONA !! A G A I N !!!! Enjoy, Vince

Good morning. What a great read. Sitting out in the sun in the back yard reading this thread and enjoying a GREAT cup of Sumatra Mandheling coffee from fresh roasted beans last night before retiring, along with a Montecristo Tubos. Thank you for a fantastic start to what appears to be a great day shaping up. I hope to make your posts my Sunday morning read from now on.

Good morning it is Sunday the the 24th day of August 2008 & it is time for the Sunday morning smoke ahhhh yes the Sunday morning smoke , what a great day of the week & a time to sit back & reflect on the past weeks accomplishments & blunders , welll not a whole lot of either , I have been feeling better than I was a few weeks ago , but my WEIGHT is UP to 234 , way to much pasta & bread, not enough tofu , so this morning I skipped the egg & bacon breakfast sandwich & went back to the tofu , I am NOT going to fall back intot he eating till I drop mode , thats just CRAZY to put myself through all that, got to nip it in the bud ! , coffee this morning (after the sunday Morning Kona) is a local roasters first attempt at a Moca java , a medium dark roast & very aeromatic , cant wait to get it in the Press pot & let it steeeeeeep a few minutes, , I did make a pot of Ice coffee this past week, just dump the coffee in the press pot with COLD water, let it set over night , , press it out & chill the coffee , it did get a little cloudy but with a shot of Tia maria over ice it was NICE hahaha , hey anything wioth a shot of Tia Maria in it is nice hahaha , next time I might try a shot of Irish whisky, in the cold coffee , but that might just kill the fine taste of the redbrest single malt Irish whisky , , for mixing I think I will just pass , afterall the distillers art is lost when it is Mixed , thats why I like my whisky at room temp & in a snifter, to allow for the aroma to be trapped in the glass & all the volitile esters of the drammm be allowd to "tickle" the taste buds & the tiny little aroma receptors in the nose , I LOVE the taste & the aroma but not the effect it has on the sence of Balance & self control, as it was said in vino varitas, ( in wine there is truth ) , some people will say anything to anyone whith enough wine in them, beer musles & beer goggles are all to common in some of the local bars, I guess thats why I like to drink at home , dont need to drive & no one to challenge you about anything other that the taste of the cigar & the complexity of the pairing with the coffee 7 the booze to match with the Fine old Hand rolled Stogy I did spend the entire day with the wife yesterday, we havent been hanging out together all that much, I have been going one way she an other so saturday we slept in a bit & went to the bank, the grocery store & the mall, ( GOD that was a Tuff one ) & took a drive up to Slippery Rock Cigars & traded a box of Camacho tripple maduro for a box of Makers mark cigars , but thats what my customer wanted & Joe at SLC needed tripple maduro , so every one wins but me as I had the 45 minute drive up the interstate to the rock & a 45 minute drive back with the Boss telling me to watch my speed the entire time we were on the road, , BUT she is a happy camper today & I lived through the event , & was able to sit a few minutes at the mall & watch the sights go by, & dammmmmm there were some sights, I wonder if some of the people ever look in a mirror & are not scared to death by the reflection, you know its like a car crash , you just got to look, & DAMMMMMM its down right scarry at times , there was this one young lady , had to be 350 pounds shorts up in the crack of her ass, , No bra & a T-Shirt that was made for a light weight , bare midriff & just rolls of skin & her thong showing above he shorts in the back just under her tramp stamp tatoo , dammmmmmit hurts my brain to even think about it again............... But I did stare in wonder whjen I say her, "WHAT THE HELL IS SHE THINKING " , well I guess if you got it flaunt it & dammmmm she did have it , I dont know what it was but there was a LOT of it to go arround ! I have a few ears of corn to go on the grill with the porterhouse to day , Beef its what for supper, the boss is a beef eater, she was a child of the 40's just like me ( the 1640"s hahaha you smrt ass's I said it before you had a chance to ) & grew up on roast beef & meat loaf, no one ever taught her mother how to cook , 'TILL I CAME ALONG , well I have been tring to break the beef habit for almost 40 years now & have gotten her to eat veal & pork a little fish at times, ham , bacon & sausage are just for brakfast unless its easter then a ham is OK , but no lamb or any shellfish & the beef still needs to be well done, dammmmm it is a loosing battle !!!     18 Year old John Challis was laid to rest yesterday , he just graduated Freedom High scholl this past May & has been fighting cancer for the past few years, he was a baseball player for the HS team & had a 1 for 1 batting average, one at bat , one hit , a clean single to left field on an outside Curve ball , he got to first & a pinch runner was put in for him as he was winded from the run, he got to meet Mario Lammue of the Pittsburgh Penguins , all of the Steelers , Pirates & a good amount of the NY Yankess when they were here in da burgh , his foundation, stared with the help of his coach 7 a few private benifactors established a way for HS athletes that are terminal with any malidity to be able to finish there sports carrier with class & dignity , John Challas was a lot older & wiser than his 18 years on this earth lead you to believe .   Thats about all I have from the burgh this week , keep reading & posting to some thing you like or dislike & I will get back to you asap ......... Enjoy, Vince
